Evidence Based Practice

R esearch is the Foundation of Nursing Excellence. My research experiences have assisted me to focus more on evidence based practice (EBP). I was employed as a research nurse for a period of two years. During this time I mainly researched for those who were conducting post graduate studies rather than for my own official educational gain. When helping others to showcase EBP it Researchdid somewhat as (Shepherd & Hannafin, 2013) suggest help me to examine my own practices at that time. This obviously links to the (“Registered nurse standards for practice,” June 2016) of critically thinking and analysing practice.

My commitment o professional practice is demonstrated by my educational undertakings as well as leading my staff to a more professional and accountable attitude of practice. Being committed to ensuring a better understanding of the (NSQHS, September 2012) and a stronger motivation to quality and safety in service by my team since I have been NUM evidences my own commitment to accomplish organisational goals and outcomes. (Health, 2015).

I have also been instrumental in researching and updating policies for the peri-op unit, which recently saw some major paradigm shifts concerning OT Attire and evidence surrounding wear.

To demonstrate how my professional role aligns with the varying standards, of which the nursing professional is governed, to make it easier I have illustrated these within tables that are situated within the appendix.
